About John Margerison

John Margerison is an international entrepreneur focused on building trust-first, human-in-the-loop AI systems for enterprise.

He is currently CEO and founder of XFactorAi, the AI communications platform pioneering state-of-the-art AI systems for enterprises and government environments. Its technology prioritises clarity and trust by ensuring human checks on outputs and embedding a deep understanding of human psychology within the platform.

XFactorAi’s proprietary technology powers WorkPilot, which enables large enterprises to embed AI into all their communications to streamline workflows, ensure compliance, and drive results.

Alongside XFactorAi, John maintains an investment portfolio through his family office, where he manages all capital allocation, risk management, and long-term investment strategy decisions.

He believes ensuring humans remain in the loop, and that an understanding of human psychology is built into AI, is critical to building AI platforms that companies, employees, and customers can trust.

Before founding XFactorAi, he built a number of large, multi-jurisdictional businesses across finance, healthcare, technology, commodities, and mining.

On top of his commercial roles, he supports a variety of humanitarian causes, including in education and children’s health, through his philanthropic work.

John holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Bond University, Australia, and a Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy & Psychotherapy from Brisbane, Australia.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kinds of AI automation are you and XFactorAi experts in?

I work on workflow-level automation where everyday communication, sales activity, and compliance carry real consequences if handled poorly. At XFactorAi, we focus on what we call communications intelligence – embedding technology directly into emails, meetings, chats, and documents so that intent is clear, risks are flagged, and actions can be taken with confidence. This covers things like spotting buyer signals, preparing executive briefings, and monitoring compliance, while keeping humans involved so the system doesn’t make high-stakes decisions on its own.

How can I tell what kind of AI automation I need?

The answer depends on where your business actually struggles. If your team spends hours reading messages, misreads customer signals, or risks compliance issues in everyday communications, workflow-level automation is usually more useful than adding a separate tool. The simplest way to start is by looking at where intent is lost, decisions stall, or errors cost money – these areas show where automation can make a real difference.

What does working with you on AI automation typically look like?

We take a practical, outcome-focused approach. First, we show you how the system works with your own data so you can see results right away. Then we build from insight to decision support, and finally to controlled automation that keeps humans in the loop where it matters. The goal is not experimentation for its own sake, but to save time, protect revenue, and reduce risk in ways that you can measure.

Who is the AI automation newsletter for?

The newsletter is for people who manage outcomes, not just tools – CEOs, CIOs, product and revenue leads, compliance officers, and operators who oversee customer-facing work. It is most relevant for organisations with large customer bases where communication, sales performance, and trust have a direct impact on retention, revenue, and regulatory obligations.

How often do you send the newsletter, and what will I get in each edition?

We send it once a month, and each edition focuses on one aspect of workflow automation and human-guided adoption – for example, buyer psychology, sales activity, compliance checks, or how automated workflows can work without creating risk. Each issue includes practical examples, frameworks you can use immediately, and clear explanations of how enterprise teams are changing the way they work.
